Cardboard manufacturing is underway

Here we go with an update we were looking forward to post:

Cardboard production:

We've finally manage to get the cardboard production to start. It has been much more complicated thatn we had expected. We've had to adjust our budget, modify the design and layouts and make a bunch of small adjustments. We've taken great careto make sure we deliver the best game possible. We have to say that the company making the cardboard has been extremely patient with us and very helpful at all times.

We finally made it though. The lack of experience in this particular aspect is what has complicated the process the most. But we've learned a lot, and that will help us on future projects.

During the process we've been exchanging emails constantly, and we forgot to show what the box is going to look like (just a generic look, no Takkure designs yet).

As soon as they provide us with some pictures of the process, we will share them with you. Like we mentioned in a previous update, production will be delayed due to the heavy workload the company is experiencing.

Whenever they provide us with a delivery date, we will let you know.

Metal Production:

Everything else is almost ready, only a few Dorikin boxes left to be made (there was a bit of an issue with one of the moulds and it had to be remade, nothing serious though).

As soon as that is done Zenit will start producing the models for their latest kickstarter, Kensei's Undead, while we wait for the games to come from Poland so that we can start the shipping process.

Acrylic tokens:

This was the last add-on to be made, we ordered them recently because the tokens kept being modified until the very last moment. But they are almost done, here is a picture:

Next Steps:

We've been totally absorbed by everything related to the cardboard's production. Now, we can start working of a few pending issues and more than anything, start working on the upcoming Teams' Kickstarter.

At the this very moment, the 4th team is being sculpted (its design has been fully finished), and Kazu is already illustrating the 5th team. You are going to have to wait a little bit before we can show you anything though.

It won't be long before you receive the games, this week we've taken a giant step towards the completion of the project. We are looking forward to it, because we are certain that you are going to love it and you are going to have a great time playing the game.

Take care.

---------------

Well into the production process / Inmersos en los procesos de producción
almost 3 years ago – Wed, May 19, 2021 at 03:01:01 PM

Well into the production process.

Hello everyone:

We hope that you are well and safe, surely everybody is as excited as we are to meet with friends and play some in person games again. It won't be long, we can already see the light at the end of the tunnel, better not get overly confident though, we've seen that things can go south very easily.

It's been 3 weeks since the last update, things are moving slowly now. The first few months were frantic, pure madness. But what comes next is not in our hands and we can already see that not everybody is moving at the same pace. Here we go:

Pledge Manager:

Yes, we've been saying the same thing for months, but this time is for real. Since a lot of things have taken longer than expected, we've also been extending the Pledge Manager, but this time, we are closing it for good. Everything is in production and we need to know the final numbers.

So, in the next few days, we will finally close it.

We have already created a section for Takkure on Zenit's online store:

https://shop.zenitminiatures.es/es/43-takkure

It will be updated with all the products any moment now, anyone who wants the game will be able to place a preorder that will be shipped after we've finished with all the backers' orders.

Cardboard production:

This is what's keeping us busy. We have to admit it, it is going much slower than we had expected. Let me explain:

Neither us nor Zenit have ever worked with a company this big. We normally work with local businesses. Zenit did work with a Chinese printer when they released Yokai Quest a few years ago, but this is diferent, they didn't worry much about quality control and communication took even longer.

This time we are working with a company that takes great care to make things perfect. Which is great because it ensures a high quality product and the best result possible. But the size of the company is working against us:

The main issue is how long it takes for them to get back to us, not because they are not paying attention but because of their inner workings. We are in touch with a rep, if we need anything we message her, depending on the subject, she forwards it to the proper department, then they look into it, send her the answer and she sends it to us.

And it is like that for every little thing. Since we are not used to deal with this kind of production, we've had to modify a lot of things in terms of design and files' formats. On top of that, the initial estimate was wrong and the budget has been modified (it is, of course, more expensive now).

So imagine that, for every single thing, you have to send an email, wait for the answer, modify whatever needs to be fixed and start again. Like I said, everything is going pretty slowly. It is quite frustrating when you are used to just make a phone call and that's it.

We knew that the project's weak spot would be the cardboard manufacturing because it was going to be the only thing we wouldn't 100% control. We are learning a lot, and things won't go the same way on future projects, we now know a bunch of things that would have sped up the process had we known them beforehand.

It is our first project though, and we were bound to hit some rough patches. As soon as production is underway we will have a better idea on a shipping date. As usual, we will keep you posted.

Material:

Everything else is on time, we have already received the busts:

Dovige Scenery has almost finished the acryllic tokens, and Zenit is already making the final Dorikin moulds which are the last figures to be produced.

As you can see, if it wasn't for the cardboard issues, we would be meeting our deadlines. For the next project we will take that into account and we already know wht we need to do different so that it doesn't happen again.

Momo:

Here is the last remaining model, MOMO:

It is a wonderful model, we love the rugby player pose. Created by Reggie Lapera and revised by David Pereira.

With this model, we've made all the Kickstarter figures, and we are already working on the next teams.

Unfinished business:

We know there are still a few things pending, the PDF's. We haven't started them yet, for the painting one we needed some finished models and for the tournaments one we needed the translation team to be available ( they've had a lot of work so far).

We will get on it very soon. We will give you a sneak peek as soon as we start.

This project has been a wild ride, like a crash course on crowdfunding. Everything we've learned will be used for future projects, to keep improving.

We keep working hard, take care.

----------------

https://shop.zenitminiatures.es/es/43-takkure

Seguimos trabajando, cuidaros mucho.

Finishing touches / Últimos retoques
almost 3 years ago – Tue, Apr 20, 2021 at 11:47:48 PM

Finishing touches

Hello everybody, we are at the final stretch of the game's production and there is a lot going on.

Final files:

Here is the definitive version of the players cards, play cards and the rules:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GhW-MWnKIbTwR2mJaPLiCy1ETxh0dg-I?usp=sharing

We are working hard to send the files to Poland ASAP so that when the miniatures arrive, everything is finished and production can start right away, that way we can shorten production times as much as possible.

It is important that, if you can, you all check to see if there are any errors. We have gone through it multiple times, but another set of eyes always help.

Backers list:

You-ll see that we added a list with the name of every backer that ordered the game. It was going to be a little surprise, but we figured it was better to show it early so that you can verify that your name is correct. Keep in mind we used backerkit's shipments list so there might be someone who used a relative or a friend's name.

You have more or less until next Wednesday to let us know if we need to correct something, after that we won't be able to make any changes.

Any corrections, errors in the rulebook or the cards, please send them to our email [email protected]

Stretch goals:

Here is a picture of the stretch goals models manufacturing. The moulds of every Dorikin, the Turtle, Tackly and Kai will be made this week, and Zenit will start production.

While the base game sets are being produced, all the add-ons and stretch goal miniatures will be manufactured and all the shipments will be prepared, so that we can ship the orders as soon as we receive the base game.

Kai:

It's been a while since we showed a render. The last two models have been very difficult to make, but thanks to the great work of our sculptors, we did it. Today we want to show one of the most anticipated miniatures and one we are very happy with.

The result is astonishing, it is a huge model. It will likely increase the price of the Dorikin boxes once it hits the shelves because it has a lot of metal parts. I think how cool it looks makes up for it though.

We hope you like it, next week we will post it on social media and we'd love if you sahred it with your friends. That way a lot of people is sure to be excited to play Takkure.

Community Map:

We've created a community map, it is now available on our website. You can sign up by filling up the form. That way we can keep adding players and it will be easier to find opponents and gaming communities.

https://takkure.com/community

Podcast:

Before anything else, we would love if any English podcast (and any other language!) could talk about Takkure. If anyone has a podcast or knows someone who is interested in chatting with us, please let us know and we will send them all the info and help they might need.

For those who understand Spanish, here is the latest Radio Chrome City episode, in this show we take a deep look at the Yamato team.

https://youtu.be/usWz78swFg8

The boxes are already on their way to Poland, they should arrive this week and we want to make sure they have the files to start production without delay.

The time to get your games is getting closer and closer. As of now there are two important tasks ahead, carboard production and shipping. But the work done so far is huge and we've met the deadlines we set at the start. Fingers crossed, we hope there are no big surprises and that you can enjoy your games in the summer, which is also looking like the time to start scheduling games and tournaments.

Take care.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dniJFVcalU0KyIVIU6xK81LMmIBEQqEk?usp=sharing

https://takkure.com/community

Podcast:

Trip to Malaga / Viaje a Málaga
almost 3 years ago – Sun, Apr 04, 2021 at 01:27:03 PM

Trip to Malaga

Hello everyone:

I'm back from Malaga, it was a very productive trip. Let me tell you how things went:

Zenit Miniatures Renovations:

As I mentioned, Zenit has been reestructuring and changing a lot of things within the company. It is a big endeavour, especially in the current situation.

They've hired someone to revamp the website, social media and the whole digital side of the company, a much needed update on a bunch of things.

On top of that, they have improved the production and office areas, now if someone visits their workshop they'll be able to see all the products they've released over the years and get to meet the company in a more professional way.

Takkure production:

The 1000 boxes to be sent to Poland for the game to be produced, have already been made. We know the cardboard production is going to take a bit longer than expected, so we are making haste on all the processes that we can, to save time wherever possible.

The other processes that Zenit needs to complete are moving along well. We checked a few details regarding the packaging and shipping. You can see on these pictures the boxes we've purchased for the shipments and a size comparison.

League:

These are the 4th round results, the last round:

The final match will be recorded and streamed (if we can), and will feature Chandly, a Teriomorph player and winner of the Spanish league, against Almost Happy, a Dorikin player and winner of the International League.

Follow us on social media to learn when the match will be streamed.

We want to thank all the league players, thanks to you we've done a lot of playtesting, which has helped solve questions, clean up the ruleset and balance the teams and players.

Thank you very much.

New project:

I'm currently dedicated full-time to board games, I've started my own studio: RamPer Design. Currently, since I'm investing more time, I'm able to work on new projects. One of them is remaking the rulebook for a Zenit's board game, Yokai quest. Back in the day it was a project with a lot of troubles, but the company managed to push it through. They still have leftover stock , so hopefully, with the remake they'll get it out of the warehouse.

We will keep you posted on social media, I just wanted to let you know that it is in the works, and that I'm involved with the whole project, not just with the rules remake, but also with the Kickstarter campaign.

As usual we keep working hard, the game's production will start very soon, we are very excited to see the final product and for you to have it in your hands soon.

Take care.

---------------------

Viaje a Málaga

about 3 years ago – Mon, Mar 22, 2021 at 05:32:04 PM

UPS AND DOWNS

As the title implies, we have good news and bad news. We are definitely not getting bored with the project, at all. Let's get into it:

FURNACE

These are the good news, like we mentioned previously, the metal furnace used to melt the material to fill the moulds broke down. And you guessed it, the good news is that it has been fixed.

Seeing how complicated it was to get a spare part from the UK, one of Zenit's operators took the machine apart to see if there was a way to fix it. He found out that one of the cables had burned and that's why it didn't work. Normally they wouldn't handle a repair like that themselves in order to not lose the warranty, but the urgency of the matter forced them to take matters into their own hands to avoid stopping production for who knows how long. So, the problem has been solved and the initial 1000 boxes of core miniatures are almost all done.

In order to avoid something like this to ever happen again, the order for the replacement part hasn't been cancelled so that the old furnace can also be fixed . Furthermore, if it becomes necessary, they could use both for a bigger project.

CARDBOARD PRODUCTION

Here come the bad news: The company making all the cardboard elements has delayed the production, it is almost certain the game's delivery will be affected. It will likely be delayed for a few weeks.

As we've mentioned multiple times, it is our first time working with this company, and two things happened:

-Right now, there is a huge demand for production. The pandemic has had negative effects on a lot of sectors, but apparently, board games haven't been particularly hurt, in fact they are booming. That's why the company has delayed the production, they are too busy.

- The other thing is that we also made a mistake. We didn't take into account that we are not making just 500 copies like we had iniatilly estimated. We are making 1000 games, 1000 comics and 500 additional decks for the Stretch Goals and the Dorikin. That also added a few weeks to the process.

To be fair, when one sets a shipping date, it is done based on the funding goal, not based on how many backers you think you might get. The more successful and the more items you need to produce, the more the production times increase. Maybe we shouldn't have cut it so close and we should have choosen a shipping date that gave us a bit more breathing room, but it is something that we've had to learn and we will make sure that we add one or two more months on future projects. It is a shame because everything else is on time, Zenit, Kazu and the sculptors are all working hard to meet their deadlines.

Looking at the bright side, we can take things a bit slower, without rushing it. Zenit is upgrading a lot of things internally: their warehouse, the website and some of their manufacturing processes, so they were kind of pulling their hair out with all the work.

They recently funded a Kickstarter for their own game, Kensei, and both projects were overlapping. Now we can slow things down a little bit and make sure everything turns out as good as possible.

We said from day one that it is almost inevitable to run into some kind of trouble, specially in these crazy times. You always work to minimize the impact of these unforeseen circumstances, but this time there is nothing we can do. We can only have everything ready and set to ship out the orders as soon as the boxes arrive .

The moment we have a better estimate from the Polish factory, we will be able to provide an approximate delivery date. In any case, it shouldn't be too long, a few more weeks at most.

ZENIT'S VISIT

Next week I will visiting Zenit Miniatures again. I shouldn't have any issue due to the pandemic, we've had to wait a bit because there were no direct flights from Mallorca to Malaga. We booked the first flight that became available in order to meet and plan the final stretch of the project.

If everything goes well, we will post a bunch of pictures of the visit next week.

NEW ILLUSTRATOR

We started working ahead of schedule on the next teams, which will probably be on Kickstarter as well. For that we have recruited a new illustrator/ concept design artist, we are absolutely amazed with Kazu, nobody doubt that. But Kazu will take a break for personal reasons and we needed someone to help us with one of the next two teams. It also helps us to diversify the design and further differentiate the teams.

The new illustrator is Roberto Zoreda, you can see his work on his Artstation:

https://www.artstation.com/zoredaichaso

No, we are not going to show you the team nor give you any clues. For now, all our efforts are focused on on the task at hands, once all the orders have been delivered, we will start showing the new teams.

PENDING WORK

There is still a lot to do. We are working on the final design, layout, revision and translation of the rulebook. Everything is on schedule and before the boxes arrive to Poland, we will send them the files, so that they can start producing as soon as possible.

LEAGUE

The league is on, it is being really helpful and we've been able to revise a lot of things. In the next update we will publish a document with all the changes, which should be final.

The leaderboards, after the third round look like this:

After all those news, and knowing that some of you will feel a bit down because fo the delays, know that we are still working hard. In the next update we will show a bunch of pictures and we'll give you more details on the progress.

Take care.

VISITA A ZENIT

https://www.artstation.com/zoredaichaso
